Get Inspired: Ovation TV’s Nutcracker Dance-Off!

It’s very important to read up on other performance art forms and learn from their techniques (if you want to have an enriching show)!

For those that don’t know, Ovation TV, the channel dedicated to Fine Art (*squeals*), is having a dance off between six major ballet companies. They’re being judged on who has the best rendition of the Nutcracker Ballet, viewers can see this on TV or via the internet.

I’m putting this on here because watching these professional dancers, stage hands, and producers should inspire you with creating fun shows, fashions, set designs, or etc. The troupe from Berlin had a set changing technique that was simple and effective. Any ol’e group can do it! No need for curtain closings! French choreographer Maurice Bejart's avant-garde take on the original story is not only interesting, but their costumes were too! Just don’t rip these people off 100%. Like Tyra Banks said on ANTM: “It’s ok to borrow and take from someone, as long as you make it your own!”

What remains to be seen is if any of you truly know who you are? Oop, shade…
